Design and operation of air hydraulic toe jacks

An air hydraulic toe jack consists of a robust base frame with a low lifting toe, a vertical single-acting hydraulic cylinder with spring return, an integrated air-driven hydraulic pump and a release valve for controlled lowering.

For lifting, the jack is connected to the compressed air supply. Using a control valve, the air drives the hydraulic pump, the cylinder extends and lifts the load. To lower the load, the release valve is opened, hydraulic pressure is reduced and the return springs bring the ram back to its initial position.
