Design and operation of hydraulic toe jacks

A hydraulic toe jack consists of a robust base frame with a low lifting toe, a vertical single-acting hydraulic cylinder with spring return, an integrated hand pump and a top lifting point. Depending on the available space, the load can be lifted either on the toe or on the top saddle.

The operator actuates the hand pump using the pump handle, the cylinder extends and lifts the load. To lower the load, the release valve is opened, hydraulic pressure is reduced in a controlled way and the springs return the ram to its initial position.

Typical applications of hydraulic toe jacks

Hydraulic toe jacks are used wherever heavy loads must be lifted close to floor level, for example:
