Types of hydraulic rebar cutters

There are two main designs in this category:

Self-contained hand-held cutters – compact tools with built-in hydraulic pump and hand lever. They require no separate pump and are very easy to move around site.
Hydraulic cutting heads for external pumps – cutting units that are powered by separate hand, foot, air or electric hydraulic pumps via high-pressure hoses. Ideal where a hydraulic power unit is already available or several tools are to share one pump.

Design and operating principle

The cutting head consists of a robust body with hardened blades and a hydraulic cylinder. When hydraulic pressure is applied, the piston advances and shears the bar in a single stroke; a return spring or pump-controlled return moves the piston back to its start position. This provides clean cuts without sparks or excessive heat.
