Single-acting hydraulic cylinders with spring return up to 200 t

Single-acting hydraulic cylinders convert hydraulic pressure into linear motion and then return to their initial position by means of an integrated return spring. They are used wherever force is required in only one direction and the return stroke does not need to be actively loaded – for example for lifting, straightening, pressing or positioning components.

This category covers single-acting cylinders with spring return and capacities up to 200 t. For applications requiring even higher loads and cylinders with load-return design, a separate high-tonnage cylinder category is available.

How single-acting hydraulic cylinders with spring return work

In single-acting hydraulic cylinders, force is generated in one direction only. When pressure is applied to the working chamber, the piston extends and transfers force to the workpiece or the load. Once the pressure is released, an integrated return spring pulls the piston back into the cylinder and returns it to the initial position.

Our range includes single-acting cylinders with spring return up to 200 t capacity. For higher loads, load-return cylinders are used, which are listed in a separate high-tonnage cylinder category.

Typical applications of single-acting cylinders

Single-acting hydraulic cylinders with spring return are widely used in industry and maintenance operations, including:

lifting and supporting machines, installations and steel structures
straightening and alignment of frames, beams and welded structures
pressing and pulling-in operations, e.g. bushings, bearings and pins
assembly and disassembly work in service and maintenance
maintenance tasks in construction, workshops and mobile service operations

Combining cylinders with hydraulic pumps

Single-acting cylinders are supplied with pressure by external hydraulic pumps. Depending on the application, different pump types can be used:

manual and foot-operated pumps for occasional work and mobile use
electric hydraulic pumps for frequent or serial operations
pneumatic-hydraulic pumps where compressed air is available as an energy source
